Our Process
At the Leon Komm and Son Monument Company we understand that we are memorializing not only lives but memories- to do so, we must first listen to the families we serve. Any memorialists can design you a simple monument or marker, but for the last four generations we've been making the very best memorials because we understand that the first step in doing so is listening to our clients wishes, and understanding what they are envisioning before we've made any recommendations.
Our process is simple but it results in memorials that are works of art.
After we've had an opportunity to become familiar with your wishes and constraints we will evaluate and inform you of the specific regulations and requirements of your particular cemetery- understanding these regulations is critical and will highly influence what type, style and size memorial you can select.
With these factors in mind we will walk you through the largest indoor display of monuments and markers in Greater Buffalo recommending to you various shapes and forms, styles and granites that we think would most likely acheive your vision.
Once a type of memorial and granite color has been selected, we will work with you to design a unique shape, custom carving and or special accent that will make your memorial a unique work of art.
A timeless discipline blended seamlessly with today's modern tools.
While the majority of your memorial will be completed using tools and methods tested and perfected over generations and generations, we have also invested in new computer technology that allows the families we serve to better visualize the memorial we are crafting well before any granite is touched by a tool.
In fact once the style and type of memorial has been selected, we will begin designing your memorial with the assistance of our computerized design software which gives our customers the advantage of being able to see their memorial with every decision. Once a design is produced that meets and exceeds your expectations this drawing will serve as the first step in the fabrication process.
All work completed in our studio by our talented granite artisans.
From this point on we will begin the process of crafting your memorial. Our artists will layout your memorials inscriptions, chisel or engrave any carvings or portraits you may have selected. For some memorial orders, we may request that you return to our studio to review the layout of your monument prior to us completing any carving or inscriptions.
Once your memorial is completed we will make arrangements with your cemetery to deliver and set your memorial in its final location.
Some important information that you should have available when selecting a memorial is:
- Cemetery Name
- Section
- Lot
- Grave numbers
- Family members full names including middle names
- Full dates of birth and of death
As our policy we will always verify cemetery information before making any recommendations or completing any purchases. We always put the best interests of our families first.
